Gardens & Villa is a four part ensemble from Santa Barbara, CA, and have recently released a 7" on Cool Summer. Black Hills / Orange Blossom was recorded in the studio with Richard Swift and the Garden Boys, and has turned out as nothing short of a masterpiece. Side A's "Black Hills" is a combination of electronic grooves, folk genius, all wrapped up in some wondrous vocals.
The B side has a very different sound to it. Very much electro-funk orientated, but still without loosing Chris' vocal presence. In all, a great 7" for Gardens & Villa. Grab it over at Cool Summer Records above.
This is the first time I have heard this kind of music. I love the mix of the instruments and the vocals of Gardens & Villa, specially the flute fills.
